THE VISITOR
Ed Rakey was dying of cancer, and knew he only had a very short time left. All of his life, his parents had forced religion on him and he had been resentful of it. He had no spiritual beliefs, and assumed when he died, it would just be eternal nothingness.
He had been raised in a Christian family but had never bought into it. He did not believe in any sort of God, spiritual realm, or higher power at all.
Then, he got a visit from a man who introduced himself as Albert Holloway, who said, “You are about to embark upon a new phase in your life. I'm just here to help ease the passage.” Ed thought the old guy was not in his right mind, but humored him and listened. And over the course of the next several hours, Albert wisely and lovingly explained the nature of the Universe, and Ed’s place in it, then welcomed him home.
