The Song Cycles
This is the Wonder
Beginning with the frolicking “Recuerdo,” to the jazz-inspired “i carry your heart,” the lilting, “To an Isle in the Water,” the pensive, “When You Are Old,” and the tongue-in-cheek Tango of “I Knew a Woman,” Miller masterfully sets the classic poetry of Yeats, Roethke. cummings, and Millay to new, and vibrant music. Set for voice and piano, the variety, the rich harmonic texture, and challenging yet accessible melodies make “This is the Wonder” a perfect recital piece. Available for high, medium or low voice.
Stag's Head
Tomas An Buile strolled down Dublin’s Exchequer Street, softly singing to himself (“Down by the Salley Gardens….”) to his favourite establishment, the Stag’s Head Pub. His pals were all there, all singing and laughing in their Guinness and their whiskey. They sang of Nature, of faeries and goblins, of lost loves and lost ages. For voice and piano, these seven songs, set to the poetry of Yeats and Stephens, tell the story of this fanciful evening at the Stag’s Head.
Biblical Songs
From the exaltation of “We Shout For Joy” to the pensive pleading of “I Offer My Soul to You” this 5-song cycle brings out the richness and beauty and poetry of the Psalms. Set for medium/high or medium low voice and piano. Suitable for worship service or recital.
