The City of Pilgrimage

Project Pilgrimage the first interstellar voyage by humans and the first colonization of an extraterrestrial world. It was over two hundred years in the planning and execution. The host planet was chosen and named, “Plymouth." Many drones were sent to terraform the planet to make it inhabitable by humans. The City of Pilgrimage was a huge space station. The 112-year voyage meant that four generations of population would make the trip. The first generation, Alpha, had lived on Earth; the third and fourth, Gamma and Delta, would eventually live on Plymouth. This leaves Gen-beta, the second generation on Pilgrimage,  as the only humans who would never live on any planet.

17-year-old Lars Adams was not happy about this, and despite the urging of his friends, Kyren Gwinn and Ford Mallory, he could not come to grips with what he deemed an unfair situation.
